The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) contributes to public safety with its core responsibility for the controlled, timed and gradual release of offenders back into society. The skills and talents of our staff are central to this work.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) full time, indeterminate position (Hearing Officer) and (2) full time, determinate positions (Case Review Officer).
The staffing of the Coordinator, Board Member Services position is anticipatory.
As a result of this selection process, a pool of candidates may be created to staff similar positions of various tenures such as indeterminate, deployment, specified period appointment, acting, assignment or secondment and with various language profiles, within the Parole Board of Canada’s Montreal Region.

EDUCATION
Post-secondary diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in paralegal studies or other related field.
ASSETS - EXPERIENCE
Experience working in the legal, penal, criminal or correctional field.
Experience working in a tribunal environment (administrative or other).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
AS-03 (Hearing Officer) / AS-02 (Case Review Officer)
Because the incumbent of this position is exposed on a daily basis to disturbing, often offensive, information (particularly descriptions of sex offences or violent offences), the person appointed to the position must be able and willing to carry out his/her tasks objectively while exposed to this information.

Ability and willingness to travel with a car and be away from home for more than one night;
Ability and willingness to work in a penitentiary, be in direct contact with offenders and abide by the regulations;
Ability and willingness to work an irregular schedule or work overtime without prior notice (hours of rest and / or meals times may vary).
