Work environment

As an Engineer working for DND-AMD-IE, you will contribute to manage the the largest infrastructure portfolio in the federal government, worth roughly $26B and with annual expenditures of over $2B or about 10% of the yearly defence budget. With a dynamic team on Engineer’s colleagues, your main responsibilities will be the following ;

You will provide authoritative mechanical engineering expertise, strategic and tactical advice and services to departmental clients. You will be also responsible to ensure the development of strategies and optimal solutions to meet the deliverables.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in the National Capital Region.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff identical or similar positions with various security levels, tenures, locations, language requirements, and linguistic profiles within the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION
ED1. University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position as a graduate from a recognized engineering program.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC1. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada.

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in conducting engineering studies, evaluating reports, analyzing results and recommending implementation options in support of infrastructure investment initiatives.
EX2: Experience in developing policies, standards or guidelines in mechanical engineering field related to building and utility infrastructure systems.
EX3: Experience in mechanical engineering design field related to building and utility infrastructure systems (at least 10 years).
EX4: Experience in providing mechanical engineering support and guidance to the operations of mechanical systems and utilities.
EX5: Experience in assessment, design, optimization and implementation of energy efficiency measures for buildings.

KNOWLEDGE
KN1: Knowledge of the theories and principles of mechanical engineering as applied to the construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.
KN2: Knowledge of practices of mechanical engineering as applied to the construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.
KN3: Knowledge of federal acts, codes, standards, policies or guidelines that apply to mechanical engineering for buildings, utilities and infrastructures.

ABILITIES
AB1:Ability to communicate effectively orally.

OR3: Possession of a valid driver's licence or personal mobility to the degree normally associated with possession of a valid driver's licence within the limits of Treasury Board's Travel Policy.

COE1: Proof of current and valid registration as a licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a Canadian provincial or territorial engineering association.
