This is an anticipatory process to fill several ENG-04 and PC-03 positions for various tenures.
Stream 1: EN-ENG-04
Stream 2: PC-03
A pool of qualified candidates may also be established through this process to staff similar ENG-04 and PC-03 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Stream 1 (ENG-04):
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Stream 2 (PC-03):
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Stream 1 & 2 (ENG-04 and PC-03):
Recent* and significant** experience in conducting analysis and developing report(s) and presentation(s) in an energy related field.
Recent* experience analyzing technical issues and providing technical and/or policy advice to senior management (Director level and above) on energy science and technology (S&T).
Significant** experience in carrying out the technical review of clean energy projects or proposals, or preparation of technical proposals and reports related to emerging key emissions reductions technologies for at least one of the following areas:
- oil and gas production;
- oil and gas distribution including pipelines and overseas transport;
- low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, synthetic or e-fuels); and /or
- carbon, capture, storage and utilization.
Recent* and significant** experience in conducting engineering and/or research projects, including negotiation, project scheduling and management, developing final reports and publishing conclusions, recommendations, and next steps, for at least one of the following areas:
- oil and gas production;
- oil and gas distribution including pipelines and overseas transport;
- low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, synthetic or e-fuels); and /or
- carbon, capture, storage and utilization.
Recent* and significant** experience in analysis of developments, trends and emerging key emissions reductions technologies for at least one of the following areas:
- oil and gas production;
- oil and gas distribution including pipelines and overseas transport;
- low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, synthetic or e-fuels); and /or
- carbon, capture, storage and utilization.
*Recent is defined as experience acquired in the last 5 years.
**Significant is defined as at least 3 years of experience.

Experience in conducting R&D projects in any of the areas related to oil and/or gas processing, CCUS, related air emissions technologies and/or environmental management related to oil and gas water use and/or tailings.
Experience in the negotiation and management of transfer payment agreements and/or amendments for projects that focus on innovative energy technologies or solutions.
Experience participating in consultations and collaborative activities with stakeholders related to energy technologies in one or more of the following areas:
- oil and gas production;
- oil and gas distribution including pipelines and overseas transport;
- low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, synthetic or e-fuels); and /or
- carbon, capture, storage and utilization.
Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on electrochemical clean energy solutions (e.g. electrolysis and fuel cells);
Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on clean and low-carbon hydrogen production, distribution, storage, or for end-use applications;
Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on conversion technologies to produce clean and/or low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, and other emerging renewable gases and liquid fuels);
Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on carbon capture, utilization and storage;
Experience with regulatory frameworks for natural gas distribution, especially related to integrating RNG and/or hydrogen into natural gas networks.
