Defence Scientists (DS) are career managed within a person-oriented system. EDUCATION:
*Graduation with a master’s degree or a doctoral degree, from a recognized post-secondary institution, in a field relevant to the position
*Candidates who are scheduled to meet this requirement within one year of application will be incorporated in the process but can only be considered for appointment once they meet the education requirement. Proof of post-secondary credits completed may be required at the time of assessment.
EXPERIENCE:
*Recent experience in the characterization of polymeric materials
Experience writing and having published peer-reviewed scientific publications
*Recent is defined as having acquired the experience within the past 5 years
ASSET EDUCATION:
Graduation with a doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
Experience managing or working as part of multi-disciplinary research teams
Experience formulating, proposing, conducting and leading research and development projects
Experience working with the military or in performing research for defense applications
Experience undertaking research on behalf of, and reporting results and recommendations to industrial, commercial or government clients
Experience developing collaborative partnerships with research organizations
Experience in modeling of polymeric materials
Experience in polymeric coating technology for the protection of military or industrial assets

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to travel by commercial air, economy class, within North America several times a year for short durations (courses, conferences, meetings, trials, etc.)
May be required to conduct scientific fieldwork onboard naval platforms and other vessels.
May be required to work overtime.
May be required to work in confined spaces.
May be required to work outside in adverse conditions.
May be required to participate in other consulting and research and development tasks, as and when required.
