The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
The intent of this process is to staff indeterminate positions in Victoria and in Comox, British-Columbia.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC1: Possession of a valid applicable Provincial /Territorial Trade Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate of qualification OR Acceptable at time of
application a military DP-2 equivalent qualification (Technical QL 5 minimum in the Canadian Armed Forces for applicable trades based on the position to be staffed) in one or more of the following fields:
• Carpenter;
• Construction Electrician;
• Refrigeration and Air conditioning Systems Mechanic;
• Plumber;
• Steamfitter / Pipefitter;
• Sheet Metal Worker;
• Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer;
• Construction Millwright;
• Industrial Maintenance Mechanic;
• Water, Fuel and Environmental Technician
• Electrical Generating Systems Technician;
• Gas and Oil Technician (equivalent to TSSA G2 / OBT2 or higher);
Candidates who do not currently possess a valid Provincial / Territorial Trade Certificate of Qualification or the inter-provincial Red Seal may be required to obtain their Red Seal certificate of qualification prior to appointment depending on the position being staffed. EXPERIENCE
EX1: Recent experience applying construction and maintenance related codes, standards, and material.
EX2: Recent experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) for communication, researching and documenting information.
EX3: Experience interpreting construction drawings with planning construction jobs.

AEX1: Recent experience in Contract Inspection.
AEX2:Recent Experience working with Department of National Defence (DND), Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC), Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) or Defence Construction Canada (DCC).

Reliability Status security clearance
COE1: Possession of a valid Class “5” Driver’s License for the Province of BC or provincial or territorial equivalent
COE2: A current and acceptable driver's abstract
COE3: Eligibility and willingness to obtain the DND 404 military driver’s license
COE4: Must be willing to wear and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
COE5: Willing and able to work from ladders, catwalks, scaffolding, roofs and motorized manlifts, reaching, stretching, climbing and bending;
COE6: Willing and able to crouch, crawl, stoop and bend while inspecting confined spaces, excavation sites, vessels, etc; and
COE7: Willing and able to work in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
