Work environment

The Information Management and Technology (IMT) Branch, within the British Columbia RCMP Division, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining information, communication and computer technologies. The Branch is located in the RCMP Headquarters in Surrey, B.C. where it is nestled within the Green Timbers Urban Forest. We strive to provide our clients with excellent service at all times and provide our employees with a healthy work environment by creating a respectful workplace, working as a team and putting our clients’ needs first and foremost. The right candidates will work within a cohesive team to achieve the desired outcomes for their respective goals.

The work environment is in an office setting, primarily with the Government of Canada Workplace 2.0 strategy. The IM+T Branch office space utilizes a combination of this and functional workspaces that is both collaborative and interactive. Employees work a 37.5 hour work week, Monday through Friday with some flexibility to work variable start times or completing their hours of work over 8 or 9 days instead of 10 in a two week period. The RCMP recognizes the diversity of its workforce and is committed to providing a respectful workplace free of harassment, discrimination and other forms of disrespectful behaviour.

The Management Services Section supports the IMTB Director General, various Branch Section (Information Management, Business Solutions, IT Operational Program, IT Core, Computer Services and the Radio Technology Program) and Branch employees through the centralized management of Finance, Human Resources, Personnel Security, Divisional Shared Services Canada IT Projects, Strategic Planning and other administrative support functions. This approach uses economies of scale and subject matter expertise to provide in-depth knowledge and services in a consistent and standardized manner.

These positions report directly to either the Manager of our Management Services Section or the Administrative Coordinator, and provides: (1) SSC project monitoring and financial support to the Branch; or (2) financial management advice and guidance, budgetary planning, control and reporting, uses complex functionalities in MS Excel including pivot tables and vlookup formulas, while supporting the finance functions within the IMTB.

This position is located in a law enforcement environment that includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

Anticipatory.

The anticipated intent/result of this process is to indeterminately staff (on a full time basis) three (3) positions.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies, similar or lower-level positions, for term, permanent and acting, at full or part time hours.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment.

This process and the resulting pool will only be used to staff positions in the IMT Branch, “E” Division, RCMP.
