♦ What is an inventory?
When you apply to an inventory, you are not applying for a specific position. Rather, you are applying for current or future job opportunities. Managers may use the inventory to fill their available positions.

If we select your application for further consideration, we will contact you for a test and/or an interview. We will notify you by email if you are selected for further assessment. Please ensure that your contact information is always up to date.

We will accept applications until the closing date. However, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible because we will select applications from the inventory as positions become available.

♦ Give yourself the best chance to succeed!
We strive to provide an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you have special assessment needs, we want to make sure that you have the support you need to showcase your abilities.

If we contact you for a test or interview, let us know if you need accommodation measures. This information will be kept confidential.

For more information, please consult the link above: Assessment Accommodation.

♦ Diversity - Count yourself in!
Be part of a public service that represents and includes the diverse identities, cultures, perspectives and experiences that make up Canada.

When you apply, you can state (self-declare) if you identify as a woman, are an Indigenous person, are a member of a racialized group, and are a person with a disability.

Some jobs are only available to people in these groups. If you want to be considered for these opportunities, you need to self-declare.

Work environment

We are looking for passionate, creative, and hard-working people!

Work life balance is at the core of our values at Canadian Heritage! In fact, we were cited for three years running by the Globe and Mail as one of Canada's top 100 employers.

Our employees play an important role in the cultural, civic and economic life of Canadians. Through our programs, we support initiatives that allow Canadians to experience dynamic cultural expressions, celebrate our history and heritage, and build strong communities. We invest in the future by supporting the arts, official and indigenous languages, athletes and the sport system.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of our employees are currently working from home (telework). Once we re-open our offices, we may consider a variety of workplace arrangements including full-time telework, full-time office work or a combination of the two.

Information on employment equity

In this process, we are using the terms “Indigenous Peoples” and “Racialized communities” as they align with international usage and in this process replace the legislative terms “Aboriginal peoples” and “Visible minorities’’ that appear in the Employment Equity Act and the Employment Equity Regulations. The definitions have not changed.

NOTE: The employment equity definitions are for the four groups: Aboriginal, Persons with a disability, visible minorities and women.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
