The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is Canada's second largest law enforcement organization, working 24/7 to protect Canada's borders by preventing high-risk people and goods from crossing into Canada while facilitating legitimate trade and travel, with over 15,000 employees working across Canada.
This process will be used to staff the following positions:

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives*
*The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are:
1. A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
2. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note: Proof of an educational credential that is higher than the education required may be acceptable. For example, proof of a bachelor's degree may be acceptable when two years of secondary school diploma is required.
EXPERIENCE
EX1 - Experience providing administrative support services such as data entry and filing.
EX2 - Experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
EX3 - Experience providing service to clients by telephone, in person, or in writing.

For this selection process, our intention is to communicate regularly with candidates by e-mail. Candidates who apply to this selection process must provide a valid e-mail address and ensure this address is functional and accessible at all times and accepts messages from unknown users.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the selection board of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the process in order to facilitate scheduling. Such notification should take place prior to the leave. Should a candidate be unavailable on the scheduled testing or interview date(s) due to illness, he/she must advise the board and a medical certificate may be required.
You will be required to show how you demonstrate the essential qualifications (i.e. Education, Experience and/or Occupational Certification) for the initial screening through your resume and answering online screening questions. It is NOT SUFFICIENT to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Rather you must clearly demonstrate HOW, WHEN, and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by examples. Information on your described skills, experience, etc. provided in the screening questions should be supported by your resume. Failure to provide the above information in the format required may result in your application being rejected from the process.
You may be assessed using a variety of assessment tools, such as, but not limited to: standardized tests, written exams, interviews, simulation exercises, reference checks, self-assessments, candidate achievement record, etc.
Top-down selection may be used during the assessment process which means that only candidates who achieve the pass mark and are among top ranking scores may be given further consideration in this selection process
Please note that your overall conduct and communications, including email correspondence, throughout the entire process may be used in the assessment of qualifications and competencies.
You must provide proof of your education credentials. You will be advised to provide the documents later in the process. If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. Deployments of internal federal government employees may be considered first.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
