This position is located in Vancouver. As a result of the global pandemic, OSFI employees are currently working from home. Should the current telework environment no longer apply, the successful candidate will be required to report to and work onsite from the Vancouver office.
To keep pace with growing and increasingly complex demands, the Small and Medium Size Banking Group Vancouver is seeking highly motivated individuals with a broad financial industry perspective to participate in the supervision, analysis and assessment of the financial condition, risk profile and risk management practices of Canada’s financial institutions. The Principal Analyst will be a key participant in the on-going monitoring and on-site review of significant business line activities and control functions. This position also participates in the analysis and identification of both sound practices and emerging trends across financial sectors.

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A degree from a post-secondary institution, specializing in commerce, accounting, business, finance, economics or other relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience, and/or training.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent, significant and progressive experience in the financial services industry*, in one of the following areas (or other relevant area):
- Risk Management (Credit, liquidity, funding, market or non-financial risks such as operational, technology, model, corporate governance and/or compliance )
- Internal/External Audit of deposit-taking institutions
- Financial Analysis/Management
* Financial services industry experience is defined as experience working in a financial institution, including banks, trust and loan companies, and firms dealing with financial services audits or consulting engagements, as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions or other relevant areas.
In addition to the Essential Qualifications identified above, please provide details if you possess one or more of the following Asset Education and Asset Experience criteria identified below.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
You may be required to meet a combination of any of these asset experience criteria:
• Recent regulatory/prudential supervision experience in the financial services industry*.
• Experience in assessing risk management practices and identifying key risk areas in financial institutions.
• Experience in credit risk management in financial institutions.
• Experience with data analytics using Power BI.
• Experience in leading/managing teams of people.
• Experience in relationship or key account management.
