A pool will be created and may be used to staff various Indeterminate, Acting or Term, positions in various locations in the North Coast Area.

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternative with a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant* experience delivering renewable resource related programs. Includes planning, implementation, evaluation and review.
Recent* and significant** experience planning, leading and facilitating meetings.

*Recent is defined as within the last five years.
**Significant will be evaluated in terms of the amount, complexity, and diversity of work performed.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of fisheries and resource management issues.
Knowledge of Aboriginal / Indigenous history in Canada in relation to socio-economic and legal situations.

Graduation with an acceptable degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience in planning and coordinating fisheries in the Pacific Region.
Experience in analysis or interpretation of biological data to inform development of management objectives.
Experience in consulting with stakeholders with competing interests.
Experience creating and delivering presentations.
Experience collaborating with First Nations.
Experience collaborating with diverse interest groups.

Knowledge of Aboriginal / Indigenous groups and their recent history related to fisheries in British Columbia.
Knowledge of Pacific Region fisheries and fisheries management issues.
Knowledge of Fisheries related legislation and Departmental policy with respect to Pacific Region commercial, recreational and Aboriginal fisheries.

Ability to provide direction on sensitive issues.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Willingness to travel (including long distances).
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and variable hours as required by operational needs.
Willingness to perform work as required in helicopters, small planes, and boats.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Secret security clearance may be required for some positions.
