The projected start date is April 1, 2021 with an end date of March 31, 2023 (or depending on the candidate's availability or needs) with possibilities of extension until March 31, 2024. It is expected that the student will work 20-25 hours per week.
$25.94 to $33.58 per hour (Varies as per level of education and experience.)

Duties

The student will carry out research related to his project. He/she will perform a literature review on his/her project, collect and compile scientific data, synthesize and analyze the data, and write his/her doctoral thesis and / or scientific articles. Take and successfully complete the necessary classes for graduation (Ph.D.)

Work environment

The Quebec Research and Development Centre focuses its research on two areas: soil-water-air and crops mainly forages.
Specifically, The Centre's staff is working on the genetic improvement and management of forage crops for Eastern Canada. It is also pursuing work in the management and conservation of soil-water-air resources.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Currently enrolled / or willing to enroll in a Ph.D. program at a post-secondary institution with a specialization in Agronomy, Soil Science or soil and Environment.

Degree equivalency

Experience* in capturing, processing, modeling and interpretation of data using Excel, SAS, R, or SPSS and Word software.
Experience* in scientific writing (literature review) or synthesis of information under different formats (reports, transfer technology or scientific articles).

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Knowledge of nutrients biochemical cycles (N, P, C) in agricultural systems.
Knowledge of soil analysis methods, particularly for phosphorus, nitrogen and carbon.
