Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to staff two (2) determinate positions with the bilingual imperative BBB/BBB linguistic requirement.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates resulting from this process may be established and used to staff similar positions at the Office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections and at Elections Canada, with various tenures (such as indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment) and various language requirements and linguistic profiles depending on the position to be staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an area related to law enforcement (i.e., criminology, law, political sciences etc.); or
- A diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in an area related to law enforcement (i.e. Law, Police Foundations, Criminology, etc.); or
- A police basic training from a provincial or a municipal police force or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. Depot Division).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
-Experience in interpreting or applying legislation or regulations.
-Experience in writing documents such as investigative reports, court documents, briefing materials or correspondence.

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the mandate and responsibilities of the office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections.
- Knowledge of the Canada Elections Act.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
-A degree in law from a recognized post-secondary institution and eligibility for membership in the bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or in the Order of Notaries of the Province of Quebec.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in performing work involving the application of the Canada Elections Act.
- Experience in participating in regulatory investigation process.

Information on employment equity

Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the selected candidates will work remotely from their residence location until further notice. When the decision is made for the Office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections employees to return to the workplace, the successful candidates are expected to work at the traditional workplace (22 Eddy Street in Gatineau) with a possibility of combination of remote work.

We will communicate with you about this process by email. As a result, you must update your Public Service Resourcing System profile if it changes. Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.
