Reporting to the team lead, finance and procurement, the incumbent acts as the primary point of contact for procurement related activities at the Research and Development Centre.
Duties include:
• Provides general procurement and contracting services/advice for the Research Centre and any sub sites.
• Responsible for shipping and receiving and collaborating with both clients and suppliers.
• Seeking consensus on contract specifications with clients and responsible for assessing suppliers’ proposal and for coordinating procurement activities.
• Providing Asset inventory management services for Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) capital assets at the Research Centre and any sub sites.
• Act as the liaison between Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and our clients and providing information on product/contract specifications, to agree on delivery timelines, and to resolve issues related to quality control, deadlines and procedures.
The advertised positions fall within the Integrated Services Management group in the Corporate Management Branch for the Department of Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada. The Corporate Management Branch (CMB) helps the Department achieve strategic outcomes and priorities while exercising sound stewardship of its resources. This ensures the Department can meet operational requirements and deliver quality programs and services to Canadians. These positions will support the delivery of scientific research by providing enabling services in procurement, contracting and material management of Departmental operations for Science and Technology Branch sites.
The immediate need is to fill two (2) positions:
• One full-time permanent position in Brandon, Manitoba
• One full-time temporary position (one year) in Morden, Manitoba
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.
A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures as well as various linguistic requirements.

Education:
• A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:
• Experience in providing advice, guidance and information to clients in a client service environment.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience in the acquisition of goods and/or services using at least one of the following procurement methods: Acquisition Card or Local Purchase Order or Service Contract.
• Experience entering procurement data in an accounting system (ex: SAP) and reconciling data for accuracy.
Asset Qualifications - Experience:
• Experience in Asset inventory management.
• Experience in SAP – Plant Maintenance Module, Financial Accounting/Fixed Assets Directory or Materiel Management Module
