Work environment

The Information Commissioner of Canada is an Agent of Parliament, independent from government, supported by a workforce of just over 100 employees. Members of the Public Affairs directorate of the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) work closely with the Commissioner, her senior management team and colleagues from across the organization to advance her priorities and contribute to upholding the right of access to information.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) position. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada as well as other organizations supporting agents of the Parliament of Canada.

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in media studies (public relations, communications or journalism) or other acceptable specialization. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard stated above.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
E1- Experience in providing strategic communications advice and support to management**.
E2- Recent experience* in media relations and/or issues management.
E3- Experience writing communications plans and products, including but not limited to news releases, backgrounders, media lines, speeches, articles, or content for digital platforms.
E4- Experience in corporate communications.

*Recent experience is defined as experience obtained in the last two years.

**Management is defined as EX-minus one or higher (or private sector equivalent).
