Whether you’re conducting audits, providing advice or supporting the professional practice audit function – your efforts within the internal audit function will contribute to strengthening the governance, risk management and control processes in support of the mandate of the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).We have current opportunities in the following areas:

DND/CAF Internal Audit Operations: This group is responsible for the delivery of the Risk-based Audit Plan across National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces which encompasses a variety of topics including procurement, infrastructure, people management, information technology, and security.

Audit Directorate, Non-Public Property and Military and Family Services: The Review Services Group is also responsible for the internal audit of Non-Public Property, a unique type of Crown property that is used to provide benefits to serving and former members of the CAF and their families.These activities include a full range of fitness, sports and recreation; family and charitable support; retail and personal financial services.They are delivered through the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services organization as well as through local bases, wings and units.Internal auditors working in this complex and dynamic area will have the opportunity to develop in a small team environment with a distinct reporting structure and audit committee,and provide assurance and advice on a broad range of topics not typically encountered in the public service.

Audit Practice Management: This group enables the Chief Audit Executive’s vision for a high performing and value added internal audit function by continuously enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency and profile of audit operations. Roles and responsibilities encompass developing the Risk-based Audit Plan, monitoring and reporting on the progress of management action plans, supporting the quality assurance and improvement program as well as enabling a variety of strategic planning activities.

OAG and external Liaison: Reporting to Manager, External Liaison and Quality Assurance, the function is to perform the daily external liaison activities. This includes, on behalf of DND/CAF, liaising with external review and audit organizations — in particular the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development (CESD) to coordinate the flow of communications; facilitate the progress of external audits and reviews; provide guidance and advice to all DND/CAF personnel on their rights and obligations under the Auditor General Act; prepare departmental responses to OAG/CESD plans and reports; and, prepare briefing material for the senior departmental management.

Intent of the process

This advertised process is ANTICIPATORY and a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at ADM(RS) with various linguistic profiles (French essential, English essential, BBB/BBB imperative, BBB/BBB non-imperative , CBC/CBC imperative and CBC/CBC non-imperative), as well as various tenures and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret, top secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.
