Intent of the process

This pool of qualified candidates may be used to fill a range of positions with various experience criteria, tenures, work locations, security requirements and linguistic profiles.
The work locations could be located within the Quebec Region and Ontario and Prairie Region of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans AND Central Region of Canadian Coast Guard, St-Lawrence and Great-Lakes Sectors.

EDUCATION
A Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;

Experience providing client service to internal or external clients / or the public, via telephone, in writing or in person;

Experience in providing administrative support.**

** While not exhaustive, the provision of administrative support services could include: electronic calendar management for others, processing of travel requests, financial processing (invoice, purchase orders, etc.), processing of correspondence, coordination of administrative activities, logistical organization of conferences or videoconferences, preparation of contextual documents for meetings, etc.
The nature, scope and relevance of experience will determine whether or not this qualification is met.

Various language requirements
Official language proficiency: due to its unique character, this essential qualification could be assessed and required solely upon appointment. It is therefore the candidate’s responsibility to inform the person in charge of the selection process if he/she obtains the linguistic requirements after the pool has been established. Also, a person who initially failed linguistic testing could be reintroduced into the pool of qualified candidates during the pool’s validity period if, for example, he/she is assessed again through another selection process or following linguistic training.

EDUCATION
Postsecondary diploma relevant to the position to be filled such as office administration, secretarial or other. (AS-01)

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
Experience drafting minutes of meetings and following up on actions;

Experience in coordinating travel arrangements and logistics;

Experience providing human resources services and support such as staffing, compensation and/or the application of the collective agreements;

Experience providing financial support services in one (1) or more of the following:
• Reconciling financial transactions;
• Verifying and paying invoices;
• Extracting, reconciling, interpreting and compiling financial information for use by management;
• Preparing budgets and financial spreadsheets;
• Creating contracts and/or purchase orders.

Experience in providing administrative support in contracting, procurement services or materiel management;

Experience using human resources systems such as MariTime, Peoplesoft, Phoenix, etc.

Experience in entering and extracting data into/from a database or computer system; (CR-04)

Experience in the manipulation and analysis of data; (AS-01)

Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint.

ABILITIES
Ability to use the advanced features of Microsoft Excel.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Security requirements will depend on the position to be filled. Reliability status or Secret security will be required.
If the position requires it, valid driver's license.
If the position requires it, be willing and able to travel.
If the position requires it, be willing and able to work overtime.
