The immediate need is to staff two (2) Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC position in Ottawa.
- 1 position at the Department of Justice Canada
- 1 position at Courts Administration service
A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions in various locations within the Department of Justice AND Courts Administration Service with various tenures, various language requirements and various security levels.
If a pool is established following this selection process, all federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) will be able to use it in order to staff similar positions across Canada. Your résumé.
EDUCATION:
The minimum standard is:
(ED1) Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master’s degree in library science or in library and information science;
OR
(ED2) Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor’s degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor’s degree was a prerequisite.
EXPERIENCES:
(EX1) Significant* experience in the management and delivery of client services in a library or Information Management (IM) environment.
(EX2) Experience in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans and policies in a library or IM environment.
(EX3) Experience in transforming library or IM services towards digital practices and technologies.
(EX4) Significant* and recent** experience in managing human resources and financial resources.
(EX5) Experience providing strategic advice to senior management***.
(DEFINITIONS)
*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired by a person in a position where the performance of these duties are/were the MAIN function over a period of at least two years.
**Recent experience is defined as experience gained within the last five (5) years.
***Senior management is defined as Director or Chief Librarian level or above, or private sector equivalent.
EXPERIENCES (ASSET):
(AEX1) Experience in supervision of a team of approximately 15 employees with a budget of over approximately 1 million.
(AEX2) Experience in the provision of library services in a federal, provincial, or territorial government environment.
(AEX3) Experience in participating in interdepartmental or intergovernmental committees/working groups on matters related to library or information management.
(AEX4) Experience working in a judicial environment.
(AEX5) Experience providing Library services in law or in Tax law specifically.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness and ability to work overtime and on short notice.
