The intent of the process is to immediately staff an Electrical Project Engineer position. There is also an anticipatory requirement to staff an Electronic Project Engineer.
A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process may be used to fill similar positions with various linguistic profiles, tenures and security requirements which may vary according to the position being staffed at Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in electrical or electronic engineering.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Eligibility for certification as an Engineering Intern (EIT) or a Professional Engineer in Canada.
EXPERIENCE :
-Recent* and significant** experience in electrical engineering related to the design, construction or maintenance of electrical power distribution and generation systems, electronic communication, navigation or scientific systems or system control.
-Recent* experience in the production of engineering studies.
DEFINITIONS:
* Recent experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the last five (5) years.
** Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities, which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS :
EXPERIENCES :
- Recent* experience in design assessment of ship equipment and systems.
- Recent* experience in the design of diesel generator powered electrical systems.
- Recent* experience in the design of communication, navigation, system control for ships and marine scientific systems.
- Recent* experience applying Canadian and International rules and regulations pertaining to the design, construction and operation of ships and ship systems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada (and abroad), (including travel by car, rail and air).
- Must be able and available to go to sea in ships under trial.
