Duties

If you are interested in economic analysis and studies applied to the labour market, this position may be for you. At Service Canada, Quebec Region, the Director of Labour Market Analysis assumes the role of Chief Economist to support the region's various operations. He/she heads a team of approximately 30 people, responsible for conducting analysis and producing forecasts of key labour market variables, analysis of client segments and operational analysis required for service delivery. Its strategic advice is sought by senior management to guide policies and establish the key directions of its mandate. The director must be a team player. He/she works closely with all sectors of activity and is actively involved in the organization's strategic planning. Through its external outreach, he/she also collaborates with public, private and academic stakeholders.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.

EXPERIENCE

EXP1: Recent* and significant** experience in the direction of economic, socio-economic or labour market studies, involving the orientation of the approach, the management and coordination of its execution and its quality control.

EXP2: Recent* and significant*** experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on complex economic, socio-economic and labour market issues.

EXP3: Recent* and valuable**** experience in team management and financial management.

EXP4: Experience in establishing and managing partnerships with organizations (public, para-public and/or private)

* Recent: within the last 5 years
** Please identify 3 studies carried out under your responsibility, explaining your role, their scope and date of completion.
*** Please explain the strategic scope of the advice and recommendations given.
**** Managing work teams must involve responsibility for managing employee performance and development. The team must consist of at least 5 employees. Work team management and financial management must have at least 2 complete financial cycles.
