Duties and functions of the position include:
• Advancing Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s implementation of Yukon First Nation Self-Government and Final Agreements and associated Implementation Plans;
• Serving as a subject matter expert and advisor on matters pertaining to Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s obligations as pertaining to Yukon First Nation Self-Government and Final Agreements;
• Leading, managing and participating in consultation, negotiation, and partnership building activities;
• Preparing and presenting information on complex issues;
• Leading departmental initiatives designed to support reconciliation and partnerships between the Government of Canada and Indigenous peoples based on the recognition of rights, respect and cooperation;
• Leading project teams and managing an organizational unit related to the delivery of a program;
• Financial management and supervision of staff.

The Senior Implementation Advisor is primarily responsible for coordinating and leading Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s strategic initiatives contributing to the implementation of First Nation Self-Government and Final Agreements in Yukon. This position requires an individual with effective interpersonal and negotiation skills, an understanding of Yukon First Nation Self-Government and Final Agreements – in particular as they pertain to salmon, their habitat and Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s mandate, strong analytical and communications skills, as well as people and financial management experience.
This process is anticipatory in nature and is intended to fill a PM-06 position within the Yukon Transboundary Rivers Area, Reconciliation and Partnerships (Whitehorse). A pool of qualified candidates will be established to fill possible future openings at various tenures, including determinate and indeterminate, within the Yukon Transboundary Rivers Area.

Education:
Successful completion of secondary school education or a PSC approved alternative.
Experience:
• Experience developing and maintaining partnerships

Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position
