The Director, Pharmacy Program Policy is accountable for the development, management and oversight of the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program drug plan, one of the largest publicly funded drug plans in Canada, that directly affects the health of nearly 900,000 eligible First Nations and Inuit across Canada.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree in Pharmacy from a recognized post-secondary institution.

CERTIFICATION:
Hold a valid pharmacist licence, and be in good standing with a Canadian Provincial or Territorial Regulatory Body.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in managing human and financial resources.
- Experience in managing the development and implementation of pharmaceutical policy frameworks, policies and services in a supplemental health benefits environment.
- Recent and significant experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management (at the DG level and above) on complex clinical cases and operational issues.
- Recent and significant experience in maintaining effective partnerships and representing departmental interest with:
a) Internal and external stakeholders, including Indigenous groups such as Assembly of First Nations, the Inuit Tapiri Kanatami and provincial territorial organizations representing First Nations and Inuit.
AND
b) Health care provider associations, regulatory bodies, and private sector service providers, provinces and territories.
NOTE *
- Recent is defined as experience acquired over the last five (5) years.
- Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex related activities for a minimum of two (2) years.

- Knowledge of the delivery of pharmaceutical care in Canada and the role of the Government of Canada in the delivery of this care to certain populations.

- Knowledge of current issues affecting pharmaceutical care to First Nations and Inuit, and the broader Canadian healthcare system.
