Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate English Essential position in Pain Court, Ontario. A pool may be created to staff other similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, acting extensions, assignment, secondment), language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual imperative) and profile (BBB/BBB) and/or security requirements (reliability or secret) within Environment and Climate Change Canada in the Ontario region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
ED1. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives such a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Note:
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the EG classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
EX1. *Significant experience in implementing wildlife or habitat projects.
EX2. *Significant experience collecting, compiling and analyzing environmental data using set protocols.
EX3. Experience in the operation and maintenance of field equipment including motor boats or small engines.
EX4. Experience with field-based data collection using GPS technology, and basic mapping using Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
EX5. Experience preparing technical reports and participating in project teams.

*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience:
AEX1. Experience with facility maintenance (such as routine building repair, plumbing repair, lawn care, etc.)
AEX2. Experience in planning and implementing invasive species control measures.
AEX3. Experience in supervision of students or junior staff.
AEX4. Experience managing constructed and natural wetland systems.
AEX5. Experience of planning, and overseeing contracted work for goods and services. Specifically, interacting with contractors, procurement procedures, soliciting bids, or handling invoicing.

K1. Knowledge of techniques, approaches or strategies to manage wildlife habitat for migratory waterfowl.
K2. Knowledge of field sampling or monitoring protocols related to wildlife or habitats.
K3. Knowledge of threats to Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands and related wetland conservation responses and initiatives.

Abilities:
A1. Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Reliability Status security clearance

Possession of a valid unrestricted Ontario G-class driver’s license or equivalent from another jurisdiction
Possession or willingness to obtain a pleasure craft boating license
Possession or willingness to obtain a firearms Possession and Acquisition License
Valid certification in First Aid/CPRA
Successfully pass a medical evaluation from Health Canada prior to, or within 9 months of appointment, and then at specific intervals as required.
Willingness and ability to perform fieldwork.
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in adverse environmental conditions (heat, cold, wind, precipitation and biting insects).
Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion, including irregular hours and on weekends to meet program requirements.
Willingness and ability to carry heavy loads (~20kg).
