EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization relevant to the work to be performed or an acceptable combination* of education, training and experience.
Acceptable combination* is defined as:
*The successful completion of two years of post-secondary education in a field relevant to the work to be performed and two years of experience in a field relevant to the work to be performed.
OR
*The successful completion of a secondary school diploma and two years of experience working in a municipal, provincial, Federal or Indigenous government.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to management on program and/or policy issues.
Experience in establishing and sustaining effective working relationships with external partners.
Significant* experience in leading and delivering programs and/or projects.
Experience in researching and analyzing complex** issues.
**Complex issues are defined as involving at least two (2) of the following criteria: multi-year or multi-phase, sensitive or high profile, multiple stakeholders or jurisdictions, and competing objectives or priorities.

Knowledge of the issues affecting or involving Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
Knowledge of the priorities of Indigenous Services Canada as it relates to children and families.
Knowledge of Canadian Human Rights Tribunal Decision on Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle.
ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to research and analyze information, create recommendations, and prepare briefing material.

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree in Social Work.
Certificate in Counselling.
Experience in leading or managing people or a project that includes assigning of work, evaluating performance and addressing performance issues.
Experience in social work or case management in health or social services.
*Significant and **recent experience providing services to First Nations and/or Indigenous organizations.
*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience performing the duties, normally acquired over a period of a minimum of two (2) years.
**Recent experience is defined as experience that was acquired within the last 5 years.
