Duties

The Energy Manager, EG-05, is responsible for coordinating and promoting sustainable policies/plans/programs/procedures throughout detachment/section. The Energy Manager is a key advisor to the ENG-O for energy efficiency best practices, design and specifications. Provides advice on how to optimize building operation as well as how the RP performs (custodial aspect) in respect to environmental sustainability policy requirements. The position coordinates with the Engineering staff, Technicians, Regional Sustainability Officer, Defence Construction Canada (DCC) and Director Construction Project Delivery (DCPD) supporting real property projects

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff 1 indeterminate position in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations and varying Security clearances.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in technical sciences OR potential to graduate with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in technical sciences by end of June 2021 OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

OCCUPATION CERTIFICATION:
Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Certified Engineering Technician

Knowledge of energy consuming equipment including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and control systems
Knowledge of energy audit processes

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
Experience with BOMA BEST, LEED OR equivalent
Experience in monitoring, tracking and reporting on energy consumption
Experience in interpreting and implementing the results of energy audits
Experience in reading and interpreting building design drawings
Experience in assessing the potential application of renewable energy technologies
Experience in promoting and conducting educational and behavioral change initiatives generally or specifically with energy and conservation promotion
Experience in current best practices in regards to building envelope energy improvement
Experience in writing technical specifications
