The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada is a federal body accountable to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. The Agency delivers high-quality impact assessments that contribute to informed decision making on major projects in support of sustainable development. The Agency, through its delivery of impact assessments, serves Canadians by looking at both positive and negative environmental, economic, social, and health impacts of potential projects. Among its many responsibilities, the Agency:

• leads and manages the impact assessment process for all federally designated major projects;
• leads Crown engagement and serves as the single point of contact for consultation and engagement with Indigenous peoples during impact assessments for designated projects;
• provides opportunities and funding to support public participation in impact assessments.

The Agency is looking for several professionals to help it achieve its objectives.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to offer one indeterminate or term appointment.

A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process will be created and may be used to fill similar positions with linguistic profiles (english or french essential, english essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, bilingual imperative CBC/CBC) as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment, specified period) which may vary according to the position being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
- Degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

NOTE:
1. Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

2. An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- EX1: Strong and proven experience* in providing strategic advice and recommendations to decision-makers on complex issues.

- EX2: Strong and proven experience* in writing analytical documents on complex issues to assist in decision-making.

- EX3: Experience in establishing and maintaining effective collaborations with representatives external to your organization.

* "Strong and proven" means experience of sufficient breadth and depth, normally equivalent to two years of work experience.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
- Graduate or post-graduate university degree.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- AEX1: Experience working or consulting with Aboriginal communities or organizations in a challenging context, including writing in-depth analyses and brief papers on complex Aboriginal issues.

- AEX2: Experience in research, analysis and evaluation - economic, environmental or sociological - of government programs and policies.

KNOWLEDGE:

- AK1: Knowledge of the principles, methods and practices related to impact assessment.
