A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. Education:
• Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in Communications or other field related to the position.
Experience for IS-03 only:
• Recent* experience in creating graphic design products (including, but not limited to infographics, posters, postcards), and producing visual media.
Experience for IS-03 and IS-04:
• Experience in researching and writing a variety of communications products (including, but not limited to, news releases, media lines, backgrounders, feature articles, as well as material for the Web and/or social media, e-mails) in a deadline driven environment.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Experience for IS-04:
• Experience analyzing and responding to public issues.
• Recent* and significant** experience providing communications advice and services, including, but not limited to writing speeches for senior officials (such as a Minister, Member of Parliament or senior management), and developing communications strategies.
• Experience in developing communications plans and strategies in support of departmental priorities and initiatives.
*Recent within the last three (3) years.
**Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex, related activities for a minimum of two (2) years.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of best practices, as well as modern and innovative communication practices, initiatives, tactics and trends.
• Knowledge of regional economic development issues in the West.

• Experience in providing videography services and using video editing software.
• Depth, breadth and scope of experience in any one or combination of the experience qualifications used for screening.
Operational Requirements:
• Willing and able to travel
• Must possess a current and valid driver’s license
• Willing and able to work overtime on short notice
