Hosted in one of the Government of Canada's most historical buildings, the Jules Léger Library is a state of the art, modern library that supports the knowledge and research needs of Global Affairs Canada as well as of the general public and foreign clients.

We want you to join our team! The Jules Léger Library at Global Affairs Canada is hiring the next generation of library professionals who are eager to provide and promote library services. The Jules Léger Library provides access to an extensive hard copy collection of books, documents, periodicals and newspapers as well as Library Online, which provides access to over 90 databases and over 80 individual e-journals to departmental employees. With digital technology, our librarians provide almost instant reference and research services to all clients regardless of their location.

Your résumé.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate in the screening questionnaire how they meet the education and experience factors listed as essential on the statement of merit criteria. In order to do so, the candidate must provide the information as part of their answer to the pertinent screening question, using concrete examples, in the provided area and within the limited characters provided by the system. Note that it is not sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities.

Failure to clearly demonstrate in the questionnaire how you meet the essential education and experience, may result in the rejection of your application. EDUCATION
Graduation from a recognized university with a master's degree in library science or in library and information science OR Graduation from a recognized university with a bachelor's degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor's degree was a prerequisite.
EXPERIENCE
Significant** and recent* experience in leading client services in a library setting.
Recent* experience in management of human resources, including day-to-day direction and performance management.
Experience in delivering library services to a dispersed and diverse clientele.
Experience in providing advice to senior management*** on library programs and services.
Experience in marketing and promoting library programs and services.
Experience in developing outreach or training activities for the provision of library services.
Recent* experience in engaging with stakeholders.
*Recent experience is defined as experience obtained within the last three (3) years.
** Significant experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of two (2) years.
*** Senior management is defined as a Director level or above (or private sector equivalent).
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of issues, developments and trends in the field of library science.
