ABOUT THE PRIVY COUNCIL OFFICE

➤The Privy Council Office (PCO) is the hub of non-partisan, public service support to the Prime Minister and Cabinet and its decision-making structures.

➤Led by the Clerk of the Privy Council, PCO helps the Government implement its vision and respond effectively and quickly to issues facing the government and the country.

➤Because it is a small department of less than 1000 employees, you have the chance to work with all sub-delegated managers (including Deputy Ministers) and the opportunity to develop in-depth organizational awareness.

Intent of the process

The Logistics and Special Services Division is looking to fulfill six (6) positions in Ottawa for an indeterminate tenure and three (3) regional positions for term tenures. The regional positions are located in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and used to staff similar positions with various language requirements (i.e. Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC, English or French essential and various types of tenure (i.e. indeterminate, acting, deployment, assignments) within the Privy Council Office and the sixteen (16) regional offices.

A top-down approach may be used during each step of the process.

EDUCATION

ED: Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EX1: Experience in trouble shooting audio visual and multimedia equipment (i.e. Videoconferencing equipment, projectors, laptops, video cameras and teleconferencing equipment).

EX2: Experience in a client service environment supporting audio-visual and multimedia equipment for meetings and presentations.

EX3: Experience in a client service environment or customer relations providing briefings, training and support for senior level officials*, or equivalent.

*Senior level officials is defined as director, director general level or above or comparable levels in the private sector.

EDUCATION (ASSET)

AED1: Post-secondary diploma in Television Broadcasting; Digital Video Post-Production or Film and Media Production or similar field of studies.

Degree equivalency

Various language requirements
- Six (6) positions in Ottawa have a language requirement of Bilingual Imperative at BBB/BBB* level;
- One (1) position in Montreal has a language requirement of French essential:
- One (1) position in Vancouver and one (1) in Toronto have a language requirement of English essential.

*Employees with a linguistic profile at BBB/BBB level will be considered first for a position. Management may consider the non-imperative staffing to fill the positions, if there is an insufficient number of bilingual candidates meeting the required linguistic profile of the position.

KNOWLEDGE

K1: Knowledge of the use of audio-visual and multimedia equipment to support virtual meetings including the provision of simultaneous interpretation.

K2: Knowledge of operation of multi-media equipment in a boardroom / conference facility environment to support in-person and virtual meetings.

ABILITIES

A1: Ability to provide technical support for various multimedia systems (ie.set-up, configuration, testing, operation, troubleshooting).

A2: Ability to work independently, and without direct supervision.

A3: Ability to organize and determine priorities and work in a multi-task environment under pressure and short time frames.

A4: Ability to work in a team.

A5: Ability to communicate orally.

A6: Ability to communicate in writing.
