**Please note that the Hearing Officer job duties are normally carried out in the Moncton regional office or in correctional institutions when attendance at hearings is necessary, however due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, successful candidate(s) may be required to work from home temporarily until further notice.
We are currently looking for dynamic and motivated individuals to fill the Hearing Officer (AS-03) positions in the Atlantic region. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all available, relevant information is on file for decision-makers. They also ensure that timeframes and other requirements set out in policy and law are met with respect to Board decisions. This position requires good oral and written communication skills to prepare correspondence, respond to telephone inquiries, and to provide advice to decision-makers. Hearing Officers spend the majority of their time preparing file summaries and attending hearings with decision-makers, primarily via video-conferencing but at times by traveling to a correctional facility. This position works from the regional office in Moncton.

EDUCATION:
-A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*.
* The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience**.
** 2 years of secondary school education with a combination of 2 years of experience working in a correctional environment coupled with relevant job training.
EXPERIENCE:
-Experience in gathering, analyzing and compiling information into a comprehensive document for decision-making purposes.
-Experience in the application of acts, regulations or policies.
-Experience in providing advice or recommendations in a work environment to clients or supervisors, managers or senior officials.

EDUCATION:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree from a recognized university or college in a field relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
-Experience in working in the Offender Management System (OMS) or the Integrated Decision System (IDS).
-Experience in a correctional, justice or administrative tribunal environment.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires daily exposure to disturbing and offensive information; consequently, the appointed person must be capable of performing the duties in an objective manner when exposed to such information.
- Ability to work in a correctional institution.
-Willing and able to travel (may include being away overnight).
-Willing and able to work irregular hours when travelling or during hearings.
-Willing and able to work overtime.
-Valid driver’s license of the province in which the position is located.
