Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff temporarily, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within the Correctional Service of Canada. EDUCATION

EED: Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Note: *The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EEX1: Experience in conducting investigative studies or compliance monitoring, and reporting on findings.
EEX2: Experience in implementing guidelines, procedures, or action plans on environmental issues.
EEX3: Experience in monitoring the application of laws and regulations pertaining to environmental activities.

KNOWLEDGE

EK1: Knowledge of Government of Canada Federal Sustainable Development Strategy and Commissioner’s Directive on Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development and associated Internal Services Directives of Correctional Service of Canada.
EK2: Knowledge of federal acts, regulations and policies related to environmental protection.
EK3: Knowledge of theories, principles and techniques in the areas of environmental assessment/investigation and compliance monitoring.

ABILITIES

EA1: Ability to conduct environmental assessments or investigations.
EA2: Ability to plan, organize and manage environmental projects.
EA3: Ability to meet multiple demands and short deadlines.
EA4: Ability to monitor compliance to policies and standards.
EA5: Ability to develop and deliver training on various environmental topics.
EA6: Ability to communicate effectively orally.
EA7: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
