The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General assists and supports the Governor General of Canada at home and abroad. It is a dynamic, high-energy and historically rich organization that has operated since Confederation. We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our Information Technology team. This person must be willing and able to serve at the highest levels of our government to provide the technical assistance and levels of service needed for such a unique department.
Within this small government department, the members of our IT team have the opportunity to apply their skills to a wide variety of IT services, projects and initiatives. This position requires the ability to be flexible, to think quickly and critically, to be professional and to provide the highest levels of client service. The position requires to work overtime at short notice and to be a part of a cohesive team of IT professionals.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Notes:
Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
EXPERIENCE (MANDATORY FOR BOTH POSITIONS)
E1- Recent* experience performing analysis and design of IT solutions based on requirements and /or specifications.
E2- Recent* experience configuring relational SQL databases.
E3- Recent* experience with performing unit and integration testing.
E4- Recent* experience with source control management within a development team.
DEVELOPMENT-ORIENTED POSITION (MANDATORY ONLY FOR THIS POSITION)
E5- Recent* experience developing applications solutions for Windows Servers and web environment.
E6- Recent* experience working with Visual Studio and the .NET Framework.
E7- Recent* experience with SQL scripting (T/SQL or PL/SQL).
WEB-ORIENTED POSITION (MADANTORY ONLY FOR THIS POSITION)
E8- Recent* experience developing web applications on a LAMP stack (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP).
