What is the Data Operation Centre (DOC)?

The DOC is responsible for the management of processing operations (census help line, receipt and registration of all questionnaires, document preparation, scanning, data capture, editing and coding) for the 2021 Census of Population and the 2021 Census of Agriculture.

In light of the current situation due to COVID-19, approximately 30% of positions will be located at the DOC, 200 de la Technologie Blvd, Gatineau (QC) with 70% of positions to be carried out exclusively from a place of residence.

Work environment

What does a REMOTE Processing Supervisor do?

From a distance and under the direction of the Management Team the incumbent will train, supervise and support a group of 10-15 operators in one or more of the following production operations: The Census Help Line, Data Entry, Editing and Coding.

They will facilitate daily MS Teams meetings, assign tasks, track attendance, review time reporting, identify issues and escalate them if necessary, review production metrics and conduct quality control functions based on established quantity and quality standards.

The incumbent will ultimately be responsible for the supervision, productivity and well-being of a staff by monitoring daily operational activities, assessing performance, and identifying issues or concerns through weekly reports and meetings.

What does an ONSITE Processing Supervisor do?

Under the direction of the Management Team the incumbent will train, supervise and support a group of 10-15 operators in the paper processing operations: Registration of Census questionnaires, Document Preparation, Guillotine, Scanning, and Check-out.

They will facilitate daily MS Teams’ meetings, assign tasks, track attendance, review time reporting, identify issues and escalate them if necessary, review production metrics and conduct quality control functions based on established quantity and quality standards.

The incumbent will ultimately be responsible for the supervision, productivity and well-being of a staff by monitoring daily operational activities, assessing performance, and identifying issues or concerns through weekly reports and meetings.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions for the 2021 Census in various locations, various linguistic profiles, tenures, security clearances and conditions of employment.

• Carry out the duties associated with this position from your home as required.
• Cover all costs related to the maintenance of your home and its associated use.
• Ensure you can work from a location within your home that is secure, and safe from hazards that may cause injury.

• Able and willing to work an 8hr shift between the following hours, days, evenings and weekends:
Monday to Friday; 6:15-23:00
Saturday to Wednesday; 6:45-19:30

• You will be entitled to seven days' notice when your employment ends, should your services no longer be required by reason of lack of work, the end of the census cycle or the transfer of work to other staff.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
