Assessment accommodation

This position is located in Toronto. As a result of the global pandemic, OSFI employees are currently working from home. Should the current telework environment no longer apply, you will be required to report to and work onsite from the Toronto office.

Duties

What you will be doing:
OSFI’s Operational Risk Division (ORD) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team in the role of Senior Specialist in the Toronto office. The Division is responsible for setting precedents in Operational Risk management practices and providing expert advice, guidance and technical support within OSFI.
Responsibilities will include:
• Managing and identifying emerging operational risks and communicate internally within OSFI and externally to the FRFIs.
• The Senior Specialist will contribute to enhancing ORDs’ capabilities in assessing operational risks (such as third party, business continuity, etc.) and their associated controls as well as furthering OSFI’s supervisory framework/methodology related to operational risk and operational resilience.
• Enables OSFI to assess FRFIs’ abilities in respect of operational risk management and operational measurement, and as such to complete its mission to safeguard depositors and policyholders
• Assist in administering a regulatory framework that contributes to public confidence in a competitive financial system).
• Execute responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Guideline including Basel Accord to review FRFI’s adherence to the Principles for Sound Management of Operational Risk as well as FRFI approaches and processes, focusing on, but not limited to, aspects of data management (maintenance, integrity and quality).

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A degree from a post-secondary institution with specialization in business, commerce, economics, finance, mathematics, actuarial science, accounting or other relevant field OR an acceptable combination of relevant professional industry experience and education.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent and significant experience in the financial services industry* in the assessment and mitigation of operational risk.
• Recent experience or exposure to one or more of the following in the financial services industry*:
o Operational management and/or operational audits
o Line management of operational/processing functions
o Control function within a financial institution
o Capital market operations
o Data management
o Supervision of financial institutions.

*Financial services industry includes experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting or consulting firms (dealing with the banks, insurance companies, pension funds or wealth management firms), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or other relevant areas.

ASSET EDUCATION
