About Us
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

Candidates must be willing to work in a correctional environment where ongoing contact with federally sentenced inmates will be necessary.

Intent of the process

There is an immediate need in Gravenhurst Ontario. A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions in the Gravenhurst and Kingston areas.

Information you must provide

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

Recent and significant* experience providing facility maintenance services in an institutional setting (example: prison, hospital, school, etc).
*Recent and significant is defined as 2 years in the last 5 years

Experience providing advice and guidance to management to facilitate planning, managing and leading facilities management projects

Experience developing, implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.

Experience in using Microsoft Office Software (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)

Knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations, which affect facilities maintenance, safety and security activities.

Knowledge of maintenance management systems.

Knowledge of federal safety legislation, regulations and policies.

Knowledge of Project Management in Government of Canada (https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-board-secretariat/services/information-technology-project-management/project-management.html).

Ability to analyze and develop recommendations to resolve issues

Ability to manage preventative & unscheduled maintenance

Ability to implement and monitor site maintenance programs.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing

Graduation with a college diploma or university degree in engineering, engineering technology, facilities management or another discipline related to the position.

A certificate of qualification in a trade associated with facilities maintenance.

Degree equivalency

Experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules.

Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System

Experience developing requests for project proposals and scopes of work.

Experience interpreting architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings, work orders, specifications and manufacturers data.

Experience contributing to maintenance budgets and plans.

Experience assessing technical systems and equipment

Willingness and ability to travel to various locations

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Must be able to work and lift tools and equipment at the maximum level prescribed under provincial health and safety regulations.

Must be able to respond to urgencies as required based on environments operating in a 24/7 facility.

Must have a valid G class driver license

Willingness to work overtime
