Duties

The Fisheries Management and Corporate Solutions team is looking for a Programmer Analyst with significant experience with PL/SQL and C# languages, especially in the field of programming persistence layers using Entity Framework. You will be part of a small team dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of the National Online Licencing System (NOLS), which supports more than 65 thousand commercial fishers across the country.

Key activities include, but are not limited to:
• Participating in the design and coding of Web and procedural applications, especially for the back end using Oracle database and Entity Framework.
• Monitoring system performance and ensuring applications are kept at an optimum level of performance and availability.
• Collaborating with regional partners to improve system integration.
• Implementing and deploying updates, new releases, and migrations of business applications.
• Keeping up to date with current trends in technology.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Note: Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and Significant** experience in developing and improving PL/SQL programs for an Oracle database.
Recent* and Significant** experience in developing and improving an application’s persistence layer built with Entity Framework.
Recent* and Significant** programming experience with C# language.

* Recent is defined as experience within the last eight (8) years.
** Significant is defined as experience of at least three (3) years.
