When submitting an application to this selection process, you will be prompted to answer screening questions concerning the essential education, and the essential and asset experience qualifications. It is your responsibility to provide clear and concrete examples in your responses to each question, including when (from-to), where (occupational title, organization) and how you obtained your education and experience.
It is recommended that you describe the experience examples in specific terms, providing sufficient details so that the Assessment Board can clearly understand. Describe the situation/task, the action you took, what you accomplished and/or what you learned. Content of your response must be supported by your CV/resume as your responses to these questions will be used as a primary source of information and your CV/resume will only be used to validate this information. Should you indicate in your response "please refer to CV/resume" your application will be rejected.
FAILURE TO CLEARLY DEMONSTRATE IN THE SCREENING QUESTIONS HOW YOU MEET THE SCREENING CRITERIA WILL RESULT IN THE REJECTION OF YOUR APPLICATION.
The Competency “ability to communicate effectively in writing” will be assessed through the screening questions. Resumes will be used as a secondary source to validate the education and/or experience described in the screening questions.
The intent is to staff one (1) permanent full time GT-03 position and one (1) permanent full time GT-04 position in Edmonton, Alberta.
Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Edmonton, Alberta or within a 40 kilometer radius of Edmonton, Alberta.
In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and /or considered: acting appointment, term appointment, assignment or secondment.
A combined pool of qualified candidates may be established inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM) for GT-03 and GT-04 positions with various tenures in Edmonton, Alberta.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION
Required for both Streams
• Ed1 - Successful completion of a degree or diploma specializing in audio/video, video production, digital media, radio-television-film, photography or a related field deemed acceptable and supplemented by technical courses specific to the field of forensic video analysis.
OR
Successful completion of the LEVA Forensic Video Analysis Certification Program with active certification as a Certified Forensic Video Analyst (CFVA).
OR
Minimum 2-years relevant experience.
Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.
EXPERIENCE
Required for Stream 1
• Ex1 - Experience manipulating and processing digital multimedia.
• Ex2 - Experience operating multimedia hardware and/or software.
• Ex3 - Experience preparing written documents, such as reports.
Required for Stream 2
• Ex4 - Significant* experience manipulating and processing digital multimedia.
• Ex5 - Significant* experience operating multimedia hardware and/or software.
• Ex6 - Significant* experience preparing written documents, such as reports.
* Significant experience refers to experience normally associated with performance of the duties on a full-time basis over a consecutive period of at least two (2) years.

• K1 - Knowledge of the theories and principles behind video and imaging technology.
• K2 - Knowledge of best forensic practices when recovering and processing digital multimedia.
• K3 - Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures in relation to exhibit handling, specifically with regard to digital multimedia.

Top Secret security clearance - *Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. This requires a security/reliability interview and a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references etc.

• Willingness and ability to view imagery of a sensitive, graphic and disturbing nature while carrying out duties, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.

In accordance with paragraph 8(2)(a) of the Privacy Act, information or material, whether provided directly by the candidate or otherwise obtained by the selection board, used during the selection process for the purpose of assessing a candidate may be used as part of the selection review and recourse processes. Such relevant information may be provided to third parties, such as other candidates or their representatives, who have a legitimate reason to be aware of that information.
