Assessment accommodation

The assessment of candidates selected for further consideration, will be in-person and ONLY take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Intent of the process

This selection process will initially be used to staff two vacant temporary positions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar CR-04/SP-CK-04 positions on a temporary basis.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable* combination of education, training and/or experience.

Note: Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.

*The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience providing support in an administrative office setting such as: coordinating and scheduling appointments, in-person meetings or teleconferences, preparing meeting agendas or taking meeting minutes.

Experience in at least FOUR of the following:
- Compiling information and/or preparing correspondence, documents, or reports;
- Requisitioning supplies and/or controlling inventory;
- Maintaining administrative hard and/or electronic filing systems;
- Maintaining and submitting accounts for payment (controlling and processing invoices)
- Responding to inquiries for information relevant to the functions of the work unit or organization;
- Providing information on organizational policy or procedures;
- Maintaining operational budget and compiling financial records.
- Providing services to internal and/or external clients via telephone or in person.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications including word processors and spreadsheets.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:

Experience using police databases such as: PROS, CPIC, E&R.

Experience using databases such as: PeopleSoft, SAP, HRMIS, Team Portal.

Experience processing and handling classified, confidential or sensitive information.

Experience transcribing documents from audio/video recordings.

Experience providing administrative services in a legal or police services environment.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - Successful candidates (s) must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. In some cases, positions, a Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance may also be required. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete. To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you”, as well as the applicable considerations under “Evaluating your past actions”.
