The incumbent will work within the Meat Quality and Sensory Evaluation program and integrate within the Meats program at the Lacombe Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. The main tasks will include assisting in the coordination of scientific activities from current projects, assisting in the preparation of drafts, formatting and publication of scientific and technology transfer articles in multiple media formats (peer-reviewed manuscripts, fact sheets, posters, reports, presentations), and providing academic support to the scientists within the Meats program (Meat Quality and Sensory Evaluation, Livestock Phenomics, and Carcass Merit). Through integration with the scientific teams, the incumbent will provide support to track and streamline equipment procurement and enter diverse information into the knowledge workspace of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
Immediate need: 1 full-time temporary position (from April 2021 to July 2022).
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment.

Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a biological science.

Experience planning and executing research activities in a laboratory environment (i.e. biology lab, chemistry lab, food quality lab or lab in a related field).
Experience working with research information in the field of food quality or sensory evaluation.
Experience preparing scientific manuscripts, project reports and conference posters.
Doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a biological science.

Experience working in a meat research environment.
Experience using a gas chromatography or mass spectrometry equipment.
Experience using multivariate analyses (e.g. PCA, PLSR, PLS-DA, Cluster analyses) and statistical analyses software (e.g. SAS, R, XLStat, The Unscrambler).
