The official languages team is involved in the implementation of official languages funding programs from which several initiatives stem.
The overall objective of these programs is to:
• promote the development and vitality of Francophone and Anglophone communities living in a minority situation;
• promote French and English in Canadian society.
The person selected will work closely with organizations from official language minority communities, which are Francophone organizations in Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon. The selected person will provide them with advice and guidance in the official language of their choice, analyze funding requests that are mostly written in French and contribute to outreach activities that promote linguistic duality in Canadian society.

Canadian Heritage contributes to the cultural, civic and economic life of Canadians through an exciting mandate that spans the fields of arts, heritage, culture and sports.
Regional offices play a critical role in delivering departmental policies and programs, and our regional operations network locally to achieve the Department’s mission. The Western Region regional office thus maintains an important connection with the public and stakeholders, whether it is program delivery or client engagement. We represent the Department of Canadian Heritage to the people of Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon.
The current need is to staff 1 temporary position for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of an extension depending on operational needs. We potentially could use use this process to staff other similar positions in the months to come.

Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience providing services to various stakeholders
- Experience in handling inquiries and providing guidance and advice
- Experience using MS Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint or Excel

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION :
- A post-secondary diploma
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with or within organizations from one or more of the following sectors: multicultural or racialized organizations or communities; arts or heritage sectors; Indigenous communities; or official language minority communities (English-speaking communities in Quebec and Francophone communities in the other provinces and territories of Canada.)
- Experience in supporting the delivery of a grants and contributions program
- Experience in the use of a database for documentation and client files
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to work overtime occasionally, on short notice.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
