Work environment

RCMP, BC Highway Patrol offices are located in various communities around our beautiful vast province. Our positions involve supporting all aspects of operations for BCHP. In some units you may be part of a larger team of Public Service Employees (PSEs), in some units you may be the only PSE. Tasks are often varied, while working in a fast paced, ever changing environment. As an employee of the RCMP, you may be exposed to various types of multi-media that some may find upsetting.

Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to staff positions in various locations within BC Highway Patrol.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies (including Acting and casual) in similar or lower-level positions at either full or part time hours. Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or or experience.

Degree equivalency

Recent* experience providing administrative support in an office environment.
Experience providing service to clients or the general public by telephone or in person.
Recent* experience using various software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
* “Recent” means depth and breadth of experience normally associated with
the performance of duties within approximately the last 24 months.
