The intent is to staff one (1) IS 04 or IS 05 position within the DFO Arctic Region and may be located in Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Nunatsiavut, or Nunavik. Priority will be given to staffing in these locations; however, should there be no qualified candidates willing to work from these locations this position may be staffed within the Ontario and Prairies Region or remote work assignments from other locations may also be considered.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar position(s) within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans or other Departments and Agencies that are based in Nunavut, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik, the Northwest Territories or other locations as appropriate. Linguistic profile requirements as well as tenures and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed.

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Note: At the hiring manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
Experience in developing, planning or coordinating communications initiatives and/or products related to one or more of the following fields: strategic, internal, media relations, ministerial events or social media.
Note: For the IS05 level, candidates must have experience in at least 3 of these categories.
Experience in providing communications advice on internal or external communications issues.
Note: For the IS05 level, candidates must have experience providing communications advice to management on internal and external communications issues.
Experience working collaboratively with one or more of: Indigenous organizations, NGOs, other government departments, provincial and/or territorial agencies, partners or stakeholders.
Experience working in advertising, public and/or stakeholder engagement, multimedia, or web management.
Experience supervising staff. Experience may include having discussions and providing feedback to direct reports on Performance Management Agreements, managing and approving leave requests, assigning work and negotiating deadlines.
