Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process to fill several ENG-03 and PC-02 positions for various tenures.

Stream 1: EN-ENG-03
Stream 2: PC-02

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EN-ENG-03 and PC-02 groups and levels within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Preference may be given to candidates who self declare as Aborignal persons/Indigenous for one or more positions.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Stream 1 (ENG-03):

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, energy engineering, oil & gas engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Stream 2 (PC-02):

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience in conducting analysis and developing report(s) and presentation(s) in an energy related field.

Experience analyzing technical issues and data and providing technical and/or policy advice to senior management on energy science and technology (S&T).

Experience in carrying out the technical review of clean energy projects or proposals, or preparation of technical proposals and reports related to renewable and/or low-carbon fuel technologies.

Experience in conducting engineering and/or research projects related to clean energy, including negotiation, project scheduling and management, developing final reports and publishing conclusions, recommendations, and next steps.

Experience in analysis of developments, trends and emerging key technologies in at least one of solar, wind, hydro, wave, tidal, power systems modernization, energy storage, hydrogen (especially fuel cells and electrolysis), or low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, synthetic or e-fuels).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in the negotiation and management of transfer payment agreements and/or amendments (i.e. grants and/or contributions) for projects that focus on innovative energy technologies or solutions.

Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on electrochemical clean energy solutions (e.g. batteries, electrolysis and fuel cells);

Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on photoelectrochemical or next-generation photovoltaic clean energy solutions;

Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on clean and low-carbon hydrogen production, distribution, storage, or for end-use applications;

Experience in conducting technical analysis and/or research on conversion technologies to produce clean and/or low-carbon fuels (e.g. advanced biofuels, renewable natural gas, and other emerging renewable gases and liquid fuels);

Experience participating in consultations and collaborative activities with renewable and/or clean energy stakeholders.

Experience using systems engineering processes, including requirements elicitation, verification and validation.

Experience using or contributing to technical codes, regulations, or standards.

Experience programming in VBA and/or .NET.

Experience in data science or database management.

Experience working or engaging with Indigenous organizations or communities.

Experience in conducting engineering and/or research projects related to clean energy in remote and Indigenous communities.
