Senior Registry Support Officers are responsible for providing in-person and/or telephone assistance to lawyers, self-represented litigants, the public and SCC staff with regards to SCC practices, procedures, proceedings, filing requirements, time limits, fees and hearings. They are also responsible for drafting correspondence, the review of court documents filed by counsel and self-represented litigants and providing the Registrar, Director and/or Manager with recommendations on appropriate course of action and, coordinating activities related to SCC hearings.
The Supreme Court of Canada is Canada’s final court of appeal. It serves Canadians by deciding legal issues of public importance, thereby contributing to the development of all branches of law applicable within Canada. The Court hears cases which are based on the common law or on the civil law of Quebec, as well as on federal, provincial or territorial legislation, and which deal with all human activities. Its decisions are delivered simultaneously in both official languages. According to the most recent public service employee surveys, the Supreme Court of Canada is one of the best places to work in the federal public service.

Experience delivering services to the general public and clients in an office environment

Experience delivering services to the general public and clients in a Court, a Tribunal, a Board or a Commission environment

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Due to operational requirements, the successful candidate will be expected to work on-site at the Supreme Court of Canada located at 301 Wellington Street, in Ottawa. A combination of on-site work and remote work may be an option during the pandemic. A working internet connection at home will be required to perform any remote work.
Reliability Status security clearance
Flexible working hours between 8:00 to 5:00 are required.
