In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education/Experience:

Qualified Red Seal Electrician with minimum 3 years fire alarm experience.
OR
Successful completion of Electronics Technician Training from a recognized school with 3 minimum years fire alarm experience.

Degree equivalency

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

English essential

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:

Knowledge of the theory and practice of Fire Alarm Systems.

Knowledge of addressable, programmable and conventional Fire Alarm Panels.

Knowledge of various Fire Alarm software applications for data acquisition, data processing, statistical analysis and computer programming.

Basic computer skills.

Knowledge of safety practices and use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Abilities:

Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.

Ability to troubleshoot and repair printed circuit boards.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to work alone and make decisions under pressure, at times with conflicting priorities and demanding deadlines.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience of electrical construction applications.

Ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Familiarity with the structure of the Department of National Defence, Construction Engineering standards and procedures, and the various MARLANT physical sites for which Formation Construction Engineering is responsible.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional requirement to travel.

Perform standby and work overtime.

To have or ability to obtain certification from the Canadian Fire Alarm Association.

In support of Strong, Secure, Engaged (SSE) initiative #24, consideration may be given to the spouses or common-law partners of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Ability to obtain DND 404 drivers license.

Ability to obtain a Valid Nova Scotia drivers license.
