d) Fisheries productivity science

►Experience programming with one or more of the following programming languages:

►Experience inputting, validating, maintaining, and summarizing data on a computer

►Experience with data mining, statistical analysis, and plotting

►Experience providing technical support, including the collection and management of data

►Experience in the development of software for collection and/or quality control of data, preparation of graphical outputs and/or reports

►Experience in supervising and training support staff (employees, contractors and/or students)

►Experience leading a field crew to undertake marine or freshwater field work

►Experience working collaboratively with diverse groups such as industry stakeholders, indigenous organizations, academics, environmental organizations

►Experience maintaining, operating or troubleshooting infrastructure or equipment (e.g., power tools, plumbing, scientific equipment)

►Experience assisting in repairs and upgrades to mechanical systems

►Experience working under the direction of project leaders on the preparation or mobilization/demobilization of marine-related field projects

►Experience providing technical support to projects in/related to marine mammal stock assessment or marine mammal ecology

►Experience conducting marine mammal surveys on small vessels or from small aircraft

►Experience in the use of passive or active underwater acoustic devices

►Experience identifying marine vertebrate and invertebrates using taxonomic keys

►Experience in processing aquatic fish or invertebrates for the purposes of ageing AND/OR interpreting age from ageing structures

►Experience in plumbing with PVC pipe and fittings

►Experience in mechanical systems linked to water treatment systems for aquatic animal holding

►Experience using and maintaining mechanical equipment to assess water quality (such as; salinity, oxygen and pH meters, osmometers, tensionometers) for fish or invertebrates

►Experience in reading and preparing line drawings and simple schematics of mechanical systems

►Experience in SCUBA-diving, recreation and/or scientific

►Experience in tagging of aquatic organisms, tracking and tagging data analysis

►Experience in fieldwork in aquatic environments (freshwater, coastal, or marine)

►Experience working in marine-related field settings, such as on offshore vessels/platforms, coastal vessels/platforms, and/or in proximity of water (e.g., wharves, jetties, etc.)

Suspension of vaccination requirement:

Effective June 20, 2022 the vaccination requirement for the Core Public Administration (CPA), including the RCMP, will be suspended. As of that date, employees of the CPA will no longer be required to be vaccinated as a condition of employment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
