This process will be used to fill one position on an permanent basis.
A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada (with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience. “If the applicant has not completed secondary school, he or she must have completed a minimum of three (3) years of secondary school, have taken vocational training courses, and have experience in building maintenance.”
• Two years of experience in building maintenance.
• Experience as a journeyperson painter or an apprentice painter for a painting contractor, or as a painter for a real estate organization or a provincial organization.
• Experience in carrying out preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs/adjustments to mechanical appliances and building systems (for example, windows, doors, fans, etc.).
• Experience in operating and maintaining of various mechanical systems in a building (for example, taps, magic eye, windows, etc.).
• Experience in using mechanical devices and hand tools.
• Diploma from a post-secondary technical program in a job-related field.
• Painter’s qualification certificate.
• Certification or related training in carpentry, plumbing, electricity, monitoring, HVAC, welding, or another field related to the job.
• Experience as a drywall finisher, ability to patch holes and carry out Gyproc (gypsum board) repairs.
• Diverse experience in various types of repairs and works such as welding, locksmithing, roof caulking, and furniture moving and assembly.
• Experience in the use of computer programs for emails and information retrieval.
• Experience in maintenance work in a scientific, laboratory or teaching environment.

• Knowledge of safety practices for work at heights (scaffolding, basket, ladder, etc.).
• Ability to identify and repair failures in various equipment and carry out maintenance work.

Ability and willingness to work overtime as necessary to respond to callbacks within given deadlines.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Ability and willingness to lift up to 25 kilograms.
Ability to report for work even when the weather is bad.
Ability to climb ladders and work on platforms, scaffolding, baskets, ladders, etc.
Ability to work in noisy, dirty environments and in the presence of toxic fumes.
Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, including safety footwear at all times.
