As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be challenged to provide financial analysis, reporting, advice and assistance to senior executives, management and staff in a corporate setting at Western Economic Diversification. This position will play an essential role in reviewing and developing Treasury Board submissions. Additionally the position serve as a subject matter expert for Power BI, pull information together from several sources to develop and maintain strategic dashboards/reports for senior management, analyzing, reporting and understanding data, and work to improve data literacy and the ability to access data across the department.

Education:
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group;
Professional Certification:
-Possession of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
Experience:
-Significant* experience explaining financial information, policies, applications and/or processes to senior managers and/or their delegates.
-Significant* experience in conducting financial analysis of budgets/expenditures/forecasts and the preparation of reports.
-Significant* experience in analyzing and interpreting complex financial information and in providing advice and recommendations on financial information, policies or procedures
-Significant* experience in financial planning, resource management and reporting (budget allocation, financial forecasting and reporting)
-Significant* experience using Excel advanced functionalities (Such as pivot tables, look-ups, graphs, macros, etc.)
-Significant* experience preparing & delivering financial data presentations (including dashboards or analytics)
-Experience using Power BI to produce reports/dashboards
-Experience using Power BI tools including :
• Power Query to extract and transform.
• Power Pivot to model and analyze.
• Power View and Map to visualize data.
*Significant experience means a depth and breadth of experience normally acquired through the performance of a broad range of related activities in the field of work in question over a period of approximately two (2) years. Depth and Breadth of experience refers to the work environment, the complexity of the work; and different work perspectives, such as program and corporate service delivery, regional operations and central agency roles. .
Knowledge
• Knowledge of financial management in the federal public service such as: Government Expenditure Plan, Main Estimates, Public Accounts, Financial Administration Act, Public Sector Accounting Standards and federal reporting cycle.
• Knowledge of current trends, issues and/or challenges facing the federal public service, particularly as they relate to financial management.
• Knowledge of database architecture and management.

Asset Experience
• Experience in providing oversight and guidance related to financial administration of Grants and Contributions programs and projects.

• Experience in managing departmental financial systems and conducting system analysis.
• Experience in assessment and review of financial information and transactions to ensure integrity and accuracy.
• Experience in the preparation of Public Accounts and/or Main Estimates and/or Departmental Financial Statements.
• Depth, breadth and scope of experience in any one or combination of the experience requirements.
• Experience in MS PowerBI dax coding
