ADM(IE)s Director General Environment and Sustainable Management (DGESM) is the primary office for activities related to the Department’s horizontal environmental strategy and programs. DGESM also provides environmental services within ADM(IE)s on infrastructure projects such as construction, Base/Wing infrastructure and long term capital asset management.
The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Significant* experience implementing complex** environmental initiatives, organisational level programs, or sustainable development strategies or projects.
EX2: Significant* experience providing written analysis, advice and viable recommendations on complex** files to the manager level or higher.
EX3: Experience*** developing written organizational environmental policies, directives and/or standard operating procedures for complex** files with many stakeholders.
Stream A:
Experience*** implementing legal compliance initiatives, programs or projects related to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act and its regulations and/or equivalent provincial environmental protection acts and regulations.
Stream B:
Experience*** implementing environmental initiatives, programs or projects related to Canadian Environmental Protection Act Part 5 and Schedule 1 Toxics and/or equivalent provincial environmental protection acts and regulations for hazardous substances.
Stream C:
Experience*** implementing initiatives, programs or projects related to reducing greenhouse gases from real property sources or adaptation to climate change.
*Significant refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a range of related activities at a senior level. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed as well as the autonomy required of the candidate to perform the activities. This level of experience is normally achieved through the performance of relevant duties for a period of at least two (2) years.
**Complex refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with files impacting the entire organisation, involving intersecting subject areas, multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and having multiple deliverables.
*** Experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a range of related activities at a senior level. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed as well as the autonomy required of the candidate to perform the activities. This level of experience is normally achieved through the performance of relevant duties for a period of at least one (1) year.
