Duties

As a Payment Services Officer (Stream 1), your main task would be to help process the Employment Insurance applications effectively. Here is a list of some of the tasks that you would have to do:

• Providing general information about the program Employment Insurance: explaining the laws, decisions, procedures and processes.
• Gathering information from clients and employers in order to process applications in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
• Rendering decisions with respect to eligibility and entitlement to benefits by applying applicable acts and regulations.
• Participating, during team meetings, in exchanges of constructive ideas for the purpose of continuous improvement.

As a Program Services Officer (Stream 2), your main task would be to contribute to the efficient processing of applications related to the Old Age Security program. You will also be required to do the following:

• Analyze various information from clients’ tax returns, succession documents or civil status documents.
•Perform calculations and prepares estimates to determine corresponding eligibility and entitlement in accordance with prescribed procedures and guidelines.
• Communicate with citizens, their representatives and third parties in writing and verbally to obtain and provide information and to provide explanation on decisions, legislation and procedures related to the Old Age Security program.

Please note that you will need to be available throughout the training and that exams may be administered to assess your prior learning. Successful completion of the training will be essential for continued employment.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to fill 24 positions by the winter of 2020-2021. This inventory could be used to staff positions at the Quebec Processing Center, at the Service Canada Call Center and/or at the Regional Old Age Security Operations Center in the Québec region. Candidate evaluations will take place during the fall. In order to minimize the current risks associated with COVID-19, our tests and interviews may be conducted remotely. The situation will be reviewed as the pandemic evolves.

Some of the competencies demonstrated in this inventory could be recognized for other inventories or processes, current or future, for Payment Services Officer (PM-01) and Program Services Officer (PM-01) positions at Service Canada in the Québec region.
