Essential Qualifications

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
- Possession of a valid red-seal inter-provincial journeyperson's certification as an Instrument and controls technician

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the installation, operation, calibration and maintenance of a variety of Building automation control systems;
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing problems with digital, electronic and pneumatic controls and systems;
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of various operating systems related to building automation software;
- Knowledge of Safety practices related to the installation and maintenance of a variety of building operating systems(electronic, pneumatic and digital);
- Knowledge troubleshooting and maintaining building automation controls network;

ABILITIES/ SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Ability to react quickly to changing priorities;
- Ability to interpret and apply data from various building control systems and provide supervisor with an estimate of labour and materials for modification, maintenance and repair;
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, plans, and blueprints;
- Ability to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain PLC

ASSET Qualifications
A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, or organizational needs. Experience
- Experience working in an institutional environment;
- Experience in HVAC and refrigeration trades;
- Familiar with air quality compliance standards;
- Familiar with halocarbon management and compliance standards;
- Confined space qualification;
- Ariel platform qualification;
- Lock out/Tag out training

In support of Strong, Secure, Engaged (SSE) initiative #24, consideration may be given to the spouses or common-law partners of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members.

Operational requirements
- Must be willing and able to work overtime including shift work, nights and weekends if and when required.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Must be able to obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance

- Possession of a valid un-restricted Provincial Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
- Must be able to lift up to 20kgs in accordance with safety practices;
- Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Must be able to obtain a departmental vehicle operators permit (DND 404);
